Marketing and technology are the keys to unlocking Macao’s MICE potential, says IPIM Link copied
The government has been running training sessions geared towards sharpening the SAR’s competitive edge in the international MICE arena.
Reforging connections with international organisations and global traders is a “huge challenge” facing Macao’s MICE industry, according to a Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) statement citing its executive director Sam Lei.
Lei made his comment during a speech at a recent IPIM training session for MICE industry professionals. The gathering was part of a series aiming to help the sector attract more international trade visitors to Macao, increase technology’s use in MICE events, and boost overall professionalism.
More than 40 local MICE practitioners attended last week’s session, which consisted of an IPIM advisory panel offering insights into an array of MICE-related topics, plus two keynote speakers: Patrick Delane and Pádraic Gilligan, managing directors of the Irish MICE agency SoolNua.

Their speeches offered advice on enhancing Macao’s reputation as the ideal international MICE destination, how to use online MICE platforms to source potential customers, and ways to incorporate advanced technology into MICE events.
IPIM’s statement said that technology was key to “sharpening [Macao’s] competitive edge and improving the professionalism of the MICE sector.”
